Shipping Administrator

Chelmsford
DRM Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of our Global client for a Shipping Administrator to work at their Head Office in Chelmsford. Ideally you will have Sea Freight and Import/Export knowledge, this is a Monday - Friday role 09.00 - 17.00.
You will be reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Operations team.
The role of the Shipping Administrator
The Shipping Administrator acts as a support for the operational team. The position will require liaising with internal colleagues, external offices for the companies Global division and on occasion, customers.
Essential duties and responsibilities
• Load and create job files in operational software
• Check, reference and finalise shipping documents in existing files
• Communicate effectively with internal colleagues and overseas offices to progress files accordingly
• Transfer electronic bookings (EDIFACT) messages into relevant file format
• Send documents or arrival information to customers
• Assist with purchase cost matching and any other duties as required by management for the smooth and efficient operation of the department.
• Work with the operations team to continually improve processes and business performance
• Support changes in the role necessary to take the department and business forward
• Work to achieve personal objectives set at appraisal and/or those set monthly or quarterly.
