Part of the Global Retail & Brand Procurement team responsible to provide a pan-european sourcing & procurement category management function and service for all brand stakeholders for the retail snacks & snack box category for a spend of the regions expenditure with external suppliers, which encompasses the sourcing, cost negotiation for several core retail pre-packaged items and foodservice ingredient product categories; within our clients UK business. Working closely with both internal teams, and also key airline customers to develop the optimum customer offering.

Location - London Waterloo, and Ashford - with the potential of some remote working.

Key responsibilities for the position of Global Category Manager - Food -

  • Define & manage Procurement in a total cost management approach for the Snack product groups across all brands for the global business, managing a spend of up to 42 MCHF
  • Define & deliver the regional procurement category strategy including sourcing activities which generate benefits and achieve financial savings targets through insight and analysis of the category and sub category areas including:
  • Procurement spend and supply base analysis, & assessments
  • Supply market positioning
  • Supplier financial analysis
  • RFI/RFP/RFQ, E-auctions
  • Service Level Agreements
  • Cost analysis
  • Strategic options & objective decision making
  • Identification of internal and external cost drivers in the categories
  • Understands all cost drivers and key providers within all markets to define best solution for xxxxx and its customers
  • Negotiation & drafting of contractual agreements with suppliers to ensure that service, quality, added value, total cost, security of supply and deployment of the supplier's capabilities in innovation are secured.
  • Development & deliver of savings opportunities and benchmarking of industry standards & practices to identify quick win opportunities reporting actuals versus budget monthly and on a year on year basis
  • Leads all supplier negotiations for assigned categories and manages ongoing strategic supply partnerships, and developing strong pre-agreed assortments with key brand partners
  • Lead cross-functional teams to manage the development and implementation of the procurement category strategy agreeing the strategy with the VP Procurement & Global leadership
  • Report category performance monthly accurately by project performance against budget versus actuals
  • Participate in group, center of excellence or Group Procurement projects as assigned
  • Provides subject matter expertise in their given sector and is a trusted advisor to the business
  • Creating tools to make deals that are better than market available to all gategroup internal customers.
  • Develop a clear Marketing Income plan with brand partners

Key experience and skills required for the position of Global Category Manager / Buying Manager -

Education:

  • Degree or Secondary education in business or equivalent work experience

Work Experience:

  • Significant previous procurement experience with responsibility for delivery of a procurement category strategy and procurement category benefits including financial savings
  • Demonstrated experience in the specific procurement category
  • Experience of working with a fragmented user base in multiple locates
  • Experienced negotiator with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in purchasing of food, beverage & consumable products (desirable)
  • Understanding of relevant strategic sourcing and demand levers and cross-functional approaches and ability to adapt levers to cope with specific challenges
  • Experienced in complex stakeholder management, and creating good networks
  • Good experience in managing and delivering projects on time in international and cross-entity settings
  • Ability to motivate and manage cross-functional and cross-entity teams, securing resources, redirecting team efforts as focus shifts
