A Global Leading third-party logistics provider offering import and export logistics solutions via air, sea and road is recruiting for a Road Freight Operator to work on a key project cargo account based at offices in Chertsey, Surrey.
Main Purpose of the Role
Ensures Projects requirements are met and documents are completed in a timely and efficient manner ensuring consistent high performance as set out within the SOP. Handling road freight forwarding operations from start to finish.
Key Activities:
- Able to review manifest report to safely load road trailer’s
- Maximizing trailer space to ensure all cargo can load
- Coordinate with Warehouses regarding cargo pick/loading
- Coordinate trailer loadings from UK/NL and Turkey
- Fully understands UK/EU Custom formalities
- Performs booking and booking optimization.
- Fully understand the workflow and processes.
- Work on trailer optimization
- Manage Warehouse SOP’s
- Creates/confirms transport bookings to ensure pickup or delivery of shipments within the Projects requested time frame.
- Look for cost savings and report to management at the end of each period.
- Ensure timely updates in internal system
- Prepares, controls and distributes all required /Export documents, and were necessary uploading to systems
- Checks responses from counterparts and off-shore offices, validation of required documents.
- Cross reference received costs against Schedule of Rates
- Follows-up shipment status
- Maintains relationships with suppliers.
- Is responsible for identifying performance issues of suppliers and proposes solutions to improve/correct performance - record/report to Management any slippage in performance or Compliance infringements.
- Performs IT systems related tasks to provide up to date information on shipments’
- Collaborates closely with others to ensure smooth handling of shipments and continuous updates.
- Ensure timely billing of files at the end of each period
- Provide accruals to the at the end of each period for reporting purposes
- Escalates issues if required.
- Ensures that all interactions are compliant with Code of Conduct and other compliance requirements e.g. anti-corruption.
