I am currently working with a very successful Shipping company who have been around for over 50 years!

They are currently in a process of huge growth and looking for an additional team member to become part of their extremely successful business. 

We are looking for a Shipping Clerk whose role is to manage non-EU FCL imports through management of carriers and hauliers. The successful candidate will investigate and plan the most appropriate routing for each client's needs, while remaining vigilant on costings. The employee will liaise with our network of overseas agents on a daily basis to confirm bookings, readiness dates and arrange loadings. They will develop good relationships with customers and keep in contact with them regarding the progress of their shipments, arrival of cargo into the UK and to arrange deliveries. The role will involve cost and margin analysis and maintenance of files. They will maintain their own customer accounts and gain new business working in conjunction with sales executives to develop and secure new custom.

You will need:

• The ideal candidate will have experience in ocean import operations and come from a freight forwarding background

• Good level of skill and experience in Microsoft applications including Outlook ,Word and Excel

• Experience in the maintenance and management of client accounts, rate & contract databases and files

• Analytical and accurate

• Experienced and enjoys working as part of a team

• The ability to manage your own workload efficiently and proactively

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• Proficient at wording emails to clients in a professional manner and ensuring that all client requests are fulfilled and answered in a timely manner

• Report writing and ability to provide concise progress updates

• Confidence in building and maintaining relationships with customers in order to generate and increase new business

• Proven history of commercial / sales acumen

Working hours are Monday - Friday normal working hours.

Salary is between £18000 - £21000 per annum dependent on experience.
