Your new role
Here at Highways England, we currently have a new opportunity for a customer focussed, strategic manager to join our team at the National Traffic Operations Centre in Quinton. You will be providing accountability and leadership for a variety of teams ensuring that the National Centre delivers high-quality fit for purpose strategic incident management, gives quality information to our stakeholders and great service to our customers
What you'll be leading on
* Provide advice and support to senior managers and other stakeholders in Operations, acting as the subject matter expert within their area of specialism to contribute to high performance across the directorate and to support the timely resolution of issues
* Use financial and performance information and data to identify opportunities to improve service performance, and ensure timely reporting against performance objectives to inform effective decision-making
* Work collaboratively across organisational boundaries, developing and maintaining effective liaison between teams to deliver against corporate and directorate objectives
* Provide team management and set objectives for the team, supporting and developing performance and managing resources to ensure knowledge and competence is maintained
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the team and ensure effective use of continuous improvement mechanisms to deliver required efficiency savings.
* Undertake planning for the area of responsibility within the overall divisional strategy, implementing agreed operational plans to contribute to the achievement of overall objectives
To be successful
* Previous experience within an Operational environment
* Able to engage effectively with staff at all levels and with different technical understanding and convey complex and challenging information to a variety of audiences
* Ability to drive best practice forward to effective implementation
* Review, challenge and adjust team performance levels to ensure quality outcomes are delivered on time, rewarding success
* Experience of harnessing stakeholder knowledge to improve output
