Our Client is a multi-sector speciality distributor of raw materials and chemicals to the UK Manufacturing Industry.
They are now seeking a Logistics (Operations) Manager. This position will be based in Bradford and is a full-time permanent role.
Job Purpose
- To safely and successfully lead all Operational activities at the Bradford site, meeting target levels of customer service excellence.
- Responsibilities include; management of chemical storage within the warehouse; bulk storage, filling, and blending, legal and regulatory compliance; and the transport and distribution of chemicals.
- Also to ensure operational activities are carried out in a cost effective manner, in line with budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for Safety Management System and approval of all site documents including procedures and inspections.
- Ensure that Operations delivers on its Customer Service Excellence targets, working closely with the GM and other colleagues.
- Facilitate the skills and competence development of direct reports, and assist them with the development of their respective teams.
- Manage the contact / interface with all appropriate regulatory / professional bodies.
- Senior role in all aspects of site incident control.
- Report to senior management on Near Misses, Misloads, PSPI performance for site.
- Create, agree & achieve annual cost budgets for Operations.
- Work closely with Transport Manager to ensure safe and efficient distribution of chemicals on site fleet.
- Act as Permit to Work, SAP and Legionella Responsible person.
- Act as site Health and Safety Lead Coordinator.
- Identify site improvements - operational compliance / efficiency - and ensure these are communicated in a timely manner and included in the annual Capex plan.
- Create and implement agreed capex requirements in a timely, efficient manner.
- Effectively manage operational teams at the Bradford site, including storage, distribution & chemical filling schedules.
- Identify & drive all areas of operational improvement required to meet future / projected business needs.
- Have ability to liaise with customer base on operational and technical requirements, including safe compliance and tank / site inspections.
- Liaise with other sites Operations Managers.
- Responsible for management and upkeep of packaging fleet.
- Undertake designated site ops / engineering inspections.
- Ensure out of hours emergency calls are dealt with effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
- National Level 3 qualifications in related technical fields or Maths & Science (or equivalent)
- IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications (essential)
- Operations management experience in the chemical industry (essential)
- Knowledge and experience of storage and distribution logistics
- Knowledge of inorganic chemistry and associated processes (desirable)
- Knowledge / experience of HAZOP activities (desirable)
- Logical & analytical thinker
- Effective decision maker
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Good communication skills - written & oral
- Good team working skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- High level of commitment to role including out of hours support / call-in
- Organised and structured approach
In return, our Client is offering a competitive package including a basic salary of up to £46,000 per annum plus bonus & benefits
