The Company

Our client is a medium-sized manufacturing company based near Brighton in East Sussex. Currently in growth phase, they are looking for an experienced Production Scheduler/Buyer to join the team and contribute to the future growth of this well-established and respected Company. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious professional. Key responsibilities

  • Communicate widely within the business to understand upcoming demand for inclusion in planning and liaise closely with manufacturing to understand capacity and material supply issues.
  • Maintain effective and comprehensive planning of all live jobs, ensuring on time delivery in conjunction with factory team.
  • Negotiate effectively with suppliers, to ensure best value and item availability in line with planning requirements.
  • Utilise Lean and JIT principles to minimise inventory whilst not compromising availability.
  • Collect and analyse relevant data to feed in to planning and other processes.
  • Chair regular internal meetings with key contacts, to review progress and identify issues to resolve.
  • Raise and progress works orders.
  • Resolve discrepancies between goods received and purchase order requirements.
  • Develop manufacturing dashboard to report KPI’s.
  • Actively seek out opportunities for improvement of product, process or value.
  • Contribute to operational and strategic initiatives.

Skills and Competencies

  • You will have at least three years’ Production Scheduling and Buying experience within a manufacturing environment and most likely will be studying toward a professional qualification
  • Excellent analytical skills are a must; the ability to analyse large data sets, draw conclusions and feed in to planning activities is vital
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office
  • Experienced in planning and production control systems
  • Proven understanding of Lean Manufacturing Techniques and JIT
  • Strong Commercial Acumen.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Organised and independent – you will be dealing with many demands simultaneously and need to organise your own work flow.
  • Team player –our success requires a broad set of skills, so working together is essential

What we're offering

This is a full-time permanent position. Previous relevant experience in a scheduling and buying role is essential. We offer 20-days holiday per year to start, rising to 25-days. A competitive salary is available for the right applicant and is negotiable depending on experience.
