This is a truly exciting opportunity for an exceptional senior finance professional to become the Director of Finance and Operations for the world’s leading design museum and European Museum of the Year 2018.

The Director of Finance and Operations will play a key role in the continued success of the Design Museum as the only place in the UK where the design industry, education and the public can come together to change the way people think about themselves and the future.

Reporting into one of the Co-Directors of the museum, the Director of Finance and Operations will be responsible for, Finance, HR, IT, Legal, Risk Management, Governance and Facilities Management and act as a key member of the Directorate and the Management Team, providing strategic insight and leadership to the museum. The role is central to the review and delivery of the museum’s strategy and will help ensure the museum has a commercially viable and sustainable operating model.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant, and will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to operate at Board level and to work in collaboration with Trustees and colleagues;
  • Understanding and experience of strategic risk management, finance audit and internal controls
  • A proactive, enabling and enthusiastic approach

We are seeking a confident, dynamic and engaging individual with excellent communication skills and confidence to operate at the highest levels.
