Warehouse Manager - Airfreight Operation

My client, a leading global freight forwarder and logistics provider, is looking to recruit an Experienced Warehouse Manager with experience of working in an airfreight warehouse, based in Colnbrook.

Role: Warehouse Manager - freight forwarding/airfreight/import/export

Location: Colnbrook, Berkshire, Slough, Middlesex

Hours: Monday to Friday 8 am - 6 pm

PURPOSE OF ROLE

To assist in the quality and operation of the Warehousing Operation through continually reviewing systems and processes to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. To ensure profit maximisation and efficient resource utilisation and allocation.

DUTIES including but not limited to:

• Planning resources and staff in an efficient manner in order to sufficiently achieve daily operational activity and maintain performance, and maximise productivity.
• Plan efficiency to minimise overtime and temporary labour spend.
• Monitor and manage all relevant operational costs and produce their own departmental budget.
• To ensure all processes and procedures are adhered to.
• Continually review and update systems and procedures where necessary to improve productivity and quality.
• To be responsible for operational analysis with the use of created data and observation to ensure that continuous improvement initiatives are encouraged and delivered.
• Ensure the Warehouse employees carry out their duties in a safe and correct manner.
• To ensure that all relevant risk assessments and SSOW are created and maintained for all areas of their responsibility.
• Ensure all employees adhere to the Company’s Health & Safety procedures. Ensure all fire exits are free from obstruction at all times. Ensure all accidents and near misses are recorded in the appropriate manner in accordance with Health and Safety regulations including carrying out fire alarm tests.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the Warehouse and yard area.
• Responsible for all trailers being discharged against a manifest, any discrepancy, shortage or damage must be recorded on the CMR and reported to the appropriate department.
• Ensure that CMR / records are accurate and used in accordance with procedures and regulations.
• Responsible for all trailers being loaded correctly and the loading manifest marked accordingly, any discrepancy must be reported before the trailer is sealed.
• Instigate disciplinary procedures when applicable in compliance with the Company’s Disciplinary Policy.
• Liaise with external contractors for maintenance and repair of operational machinery.
• Control and replenish materials as necessary for the effective operation of the Warehouse.
• To train, coach and supervise all Warehouse employees.
• To ensure efficient lines of communication are maintained between team members, operational management, the customer, other internal departments and external suppliers.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years warehouse management experience within a 3pl/airfreight environment

Knowledge of Airfreight/import/export warehousing essential

Preferably holder of H&S qualification. Must champion strong adherence of H&S policies

Ability to work calmly under pressure in fast paced environment

Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate teams

Commercially astute

Change management/continuous improvement experience

Strong influencing skills
