We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Procurement Manager to join our newly created Contract Management Centre of Excellence team. The sheer scale and size of Royal Mail Procurement provides the successful candidate with many future development opportunities. This is an opportunity to be creative and involved in the way we shape and develop this new team with Royal Mail’s established Procurement function.

The primary goal of the Procurement team at Royal Mail is to deliver first class value for the business and protect it from risk, in support of the overall Royal Mail vision to be recognised as the best delivery company in the UK and across Europe. Royal Mail’s supply chain consists of around 5,000 suppliers. With an annual spend in excess of £2.25bn it plays a vital role in achieving our vision.

About the role

As an Assistant Procurement Manager, you will work closely with the Strategic Contract Managers and will report to the Procurement Manager for Contract Management in the Centre of Excellence.  You will support the maintenance of Contract Management Essentials across all Group Procurement contracted suppliers and the virtual contract management community across Royal Mail.

You will have responsibility for the strategic contract management benefits tracker within SAP Ariba and using your data analysis skills will be able to prioritise a targeted rolling pipeline of contract management activity aligned to the existing procurement contract life-cycle. You will assist in the preparation of the monthly Contract Management dashboard reporting and support the management of the Supplier Management Portal. 

About you

It is preferable that you have experience in a strategic procurement function, in a large organisation with Procurement and / or contract management experience.

You will have excellent analytical skills, be innovative in problem solving and proficient in the use of Microsoft tools.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be either qualified, part qualified or prepared to study for Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS)

You will have excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, be able to work on your own initiative and have the ability to prioritise workload to deliver to tight deadlines.

You will have strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
