Due to this growth, they now seek to appoint an experienced and capable Planning & Procurement Manager into a new role within the business.

The role:

The role of Planning & Procurement Manager is primarily to manage and develop the material and planning function and promote leadership and a total quality philosophy at all levels. You will ensure that the integrity of the material procurement and control of materials is maintained and developed thereby contribute to the achievement of consistent operational performance and standards. You will provide a professional service to the business, its customers and suppliers to both eliminate problems, as well as actively supporting their customers ensuring 100% quality and on time delivery.

You should have proven experience in overseeing the forecasting of material and consumable requirements for operations, providing planning support, manage the master production scheduling and in measuring schedule adherence.

In the role you will:

  • Manage Procurement, stock control and goods inwards for raw material requirements in line with business needs using MRP systems.
  • Facilitate the manufacturing production plan and be the single communicator of changes to the plan to internal departments.
  • Support in the monthly demand review process using historic data, input from sales and customer specific requirements to decide on the best forecast planning of materials in line with the business needs.
  • Provide input to develop inventory strategies on existing and new contracts and support optimisation of inventory strategies.
  • Process improvement initiatives, aimed at service delivery, material availability and cost.
  • Analyse information, evaluate and resolve issues in this rapidly changing environment.
  • Develop policies and procedures in the areas of procurement, inventory control, receiving, storage and distribution.
  • Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place.
  • Seek and recommend solutions to overcome issues arising in order to meet production requirements and address operational risks.
  • Take overall responsibility for obsolete parts process and ensure business is left with minimum liability and minimal waste.
  • Oversee labelling processes to ensure correct parts/finished assemblies reach correct customers at the correct time.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time.
  • Design, develop and implement processes and work with suppliers on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the assessment and sourcing of suppliers in conjunction with members of the purchasing team.
  • Contribute to supplier meetings and negotiations to ensure demand for materials is met.
  • Resolve supplier concerns and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Organise, manage & complete annual stock checks.
  • Lead, mentor and develop you small team and wider stakeholders within the business.
