Buyer Manufacturing

Buyer (Manufacturing Industry) 
Location: Southampton
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
Hours: Mon – Thu: 07:30 – 16:30 Fri: 07:30 – 12:30 

Our client is currently recruiting for a full time Buyer. This position would be ideal for a buyer with two – three years’ experience looking to take the next step up in their career.  

The key responsibilities of the Buyer include:

•    Responsible for aspects of day to day supplier relationship and managing expectations & performance
•    Raising purchasing orders in line with ERP, project or specific requests
•    Review acknowledgements, price and delivery.
*    Actively work with suppliers to ensure delivery dates are met. 
•    Regularly review purchasing action messages and action orders as required
•    Respond to actual or potential material shortages and report in daily production meeting
•    Manage purchasing activities associated with engineering change
•    Manage issue resolution activities with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply
•    Actively progress cost reduction opportunities and ensure best overall cost of purchase
•    Process invoice queries in good time
•    Process goods in receipt queries in good time
•    Measure Supplier performance and proactively manage improvement in quality, delivery & cost
•    Manage the introduction and transition of new suppliers
•    Manage & maintain stock levels at suppliers & report monthly on current liability
•    Stock check activities
•    Supplier Score Cards (Quality, Delivery & Cost)
•    Ultra-Long Lead Material (Electronics) Supplier Stock levels through Supplier Portfolio reports
•    Overdue POs

Skills and experience required:

•     Excellent Communication skills – ability to   communicate effectively at all levels 
•     Reasonable experience of production buying and supplier sourcing desirable
•     Analytical approach
•     Reasonable experience and understanding of ERP and planning systems desirable
•     Exceptionally competent on MS Excel.
•     Highly competent on MS applications (Word, Project, PowerPoint)

Essential experience required:

* Experience in a manufacturing industry
* Data analysis/Reporting experience
* A good command of written English
