We are currently recruiting a Category Buyer for an international engineering company who design, manufacture and install products to the industrial markets.

This is a full-time permanent role and the hours of work are Monday to Thursday, 08:00am - 17:00pm and Friday 08:00am -12:30pm with 45 minutes break each day. This company are offering a great starting salary of £35,000 PA.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Guarantee purchasing performance for the commodity (QCD, working capital)
  • Manage the supplier base in order to obtain the necessary improvements to achieve the above and protect the company against unfavourable market trends * Not only guarantee the best "total cost of ownership" but also challenge the organisation to ensure the above is met during tender reviews.
  • Define and lead the best local commodity strategy
  • Consult, negotiate, select and contract the supplier on every need of the commodity
  • Manage their QCD Performance. Optimize supplier performance, including continuous improvement
  • Guaranty that every Purchase Order is placed in the negotiated contracts accordingly to decision made
  • Define and lead the purchasing actions to increase profitability of the projects
  • Mapping of actual spent (supplier mapping & supply flows, technology mapping, competition risks, know-how & technology shifts, Purchase Amount trends, shortage Impacts, Contracting and Terms & Conditions situation, obsolete management…)
  • Align purchasing strategies with the needs of the Group. By means of developing and involving engineering in a Technical Savings program, by means of challenging the Centre of Competence as well as the Project Engineering, and take part to the standardisation (parts / raw material) and to the design rule definition

The successful candidate should:

  • Have experience in a similar purchasing role
  • Be able to work well independently as well as part of a team
  • Have a strong background in strategic sourcing and have proven negotiation skills
