Hays are working with a government funded organisation based in the Wakefield area to recruit for a Senior Category Manager for a long term fixed term contract

Your new role
As a senior category manager you will be reporting to the strategic category manager and be responsible for up to 3 direct reports. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and managing the procurement category strategies for a portfolio of categories, mainly estates, facilities and fleet
  • Provide professional advice on technical procurement matters to senior regional customers
  • Negotiate and influence senior collective forums internal and external
  • Develop and deliver procurement savings plans for specific categories
  • Lead and manage complex and strategic force, regional and national collaborative procurement projects to ensure effective delivery in line with customers requirements and timescales
  • Manage contract reviews



What you'll need to succeed

Previous category management experience is essential, ideally within estates, facilities management and fleet. Candidates with experience in different categories will also be considered. in addition:

  • Relevant experience of managing all aspects of high value category management
  • demonstrated ability to negotiate construct and manage diverse and complex procurement contracts
  • Demonstrated experience of leading and managing collaborative procurement projects of significant complexity and value
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Diploma Full MCIPS level 6 (not essential)
  • Experience of mentoring and managing staff
