This role provides both leadership and direction of the organisation going forwards, as well as taking the lead on all matters relating to either Finance, IT systems, office management, data and risk management.

As the principal finance expert within the organisation, you will prepare detailed financial plans and budgets alongside measurable KPIs which accurately reflect strategic and operational priorities. You will interpret and present key analysis, identify both risks and opportunities and ensure all financial, IT and VAT requirements are fully considered, as well as working with the SMT on cost-benefit analysis for new business opportunities.

You will also ensure the provision of accurate and timely reporting of financial performance to key stakeholders having regard to best practice and regulatory and statutory requirements; oversee investments; support and train budget-holders; lead the annual audit process with external auditors and provide advice and guidance on risk management (including chairing the GDPR working group).

Other aspects of the role include ensuring the optimisation of all IT systems and databases, office and facilities maintenance and leading and management of the small finance team (Finance Manager and Finance & membership Officer).

The successful candidate will have significant experience in a lead financial role, ideally within a similar-sized membership body or charity and will be able to demonstrate their experience of investments and decision making, producing budgets and longer-term plans as well as practical knowledge of audits, charity VAT and partial exemptions. You will also have played a wider operations role within your previous organisations, leading, managing and developing effective solutions on everything from IT to data management.

Please note, this role will ideally be offered on a permanent contract, on a 4-day per week basis, but the organisation remains flexible for the right candidate.
