Our client, a UK wide manufacturer, are keen to recruit a Purchasing Assistant to support the Supply Chain Manager and Site Engineering Manager

Responsibilities of the Purchasing Assistant include:

  • Supporting all Parts Depots with order processing and enquiries
  • Check MRP recommended order output
  • Manage supplier invoice/supply queries/returns
  • General purchasing administration
  • Running inventory reports
  • Placing orders with suppliersbased on recommendations from MRP
  • Place non MRP orders as required / directed by your supervisor
  • Expediting these orders
  • Check orders have been placed on suppliers
  • Check order confirmations that price and delivery dates are correct
  • Amend SAGE system with supplier agreed dates
  • Review overdue delivery reports at least once per day
  • Chase up orders approaching due date and orders that are overdue
  • Amend purchase orders as directed by your supervisor
  • Book in goods received
  • Resolve purchase order / delivery anomalies
  • Develop supplier relationships

It is expected that the successful Purchasing Assistant will have:

  • Previous buying / purchasing experience
  • Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook) and preferably SAGE
  • Good understanding and experience of MRP/ERP systems preferred
  • Managing a supplier portfolio, creating regular schedules, ensuring adherence to the schedules in line with production requirements, supplier lead times and warehousing capacities.
  • Continuously aware of and pro-actively addressing potential/actual shortages.
  • Problem solving to address both internal inventory and supplier performance issues
  • Managing optimum inventory levels
