Job title: Purchasing Assistant
Purpose of Role: To provide support for the Purchasing Manager
Location: Cirencester
Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 DOE
My client, a local engineering company specialising in the manufacture of bespoke machinery are currently looking for a purchasing assistant to assist the purchasing manager on a permanent basis.
They are based in a rural location and so a driving licence is essential for the role.
Role requirements:
*Sage 200 or another ERP System, Microsoft Office
*Mathematically astute
*Thorough, meticulous and organised with good time management skills, able to work to deadlines
*Comfortable with progress chasing urgent and time critical suppliers to ensure on time arrival
*Experience in purchasing, ideally in a manufacturing environment
*Able to develop a strong working relationship within the team and other departments
Main duties:
*Issue purchase orders-both routine and specials
*Work on weekly list of below minimum stock level items, reviewing & ordering according to usage patterns.
*Work through BOM stock shortages using trial kitting function of Sage
*Help general efficiency of whole purchasing system and with the drive to achieve on-time delivery of all key components coupled with reduction of overall stock levels
*Liaise with suppliers regarding prices, delivery schedules and quality issues, following up complaints
*Obtain steel quotes, liaise with suppliers, place and progress orders
*Ensure that goods imported from outside the EU are booked into stock at landed cost
*Comfortable expediting orders and communicating with relevant departments
*Compile and write reports as required
*Cooperate and assist other departments investigating unusual usage
*Research alternative sources
