Working in the Procurement team, the Buyer will be responsible for supplier management and day to day purchasing ton maintain the continuity of supply of materials.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer;

Maintain Supplier relationships and manage expectations and performance.

Raise purchase orders in line with requirements.

Work with suppliers to ensure delivery dates are met.

Ensure MRP is updated in a timely manner.

Respond to material shortages and report in daily production meeting.

Communicate regularly with suppliers to ensure requirements are fully understood.

Manage purchasing activities associated with engineering change.

Manage issue resolution activities with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply.

Actively progress cost reduction opportunities and ensure best overall cost of purchase.

Measure Supplier performance and proactively manage improvement in quality, delivery & cost.

Manage the introduction and transition of new suppliers.

Manage and maintain stock levels at suppliers and report monthly on current liability.

Personal Specification of the Buyer;

Proven Purchasing experience.

CIPS qualification or studying towards preferred but not essential.

Excellent communication & negotiation skills

Excellent IT skills including MS Office

Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.

Enthusiastic and ability to work effectively as part of a team

Able to multi-task and manage own time effectively.

Able to work under pressure and to set deadlines.

Demonstrate a flexible attitude towards all types of work.

This role would also suit you if you have held a role as a Buyer, Junior Buyer, Procurement Assistant or Purchasing Controller.
