Transport Operations Manager

Winner Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Transport Operations Managers based in Warrington, working for one of the UKs largest logistics and distribution companies, they have been trading for over 40 years and support some of the largest and fastest paced e-commerce and international retailers, offering cost effective, efficient and next day service to their customers.

You will be required to manage the fleet operation and be responsible for the delivery of a safe, legal compliant and cost effective transport operation.

You will have overall responsibility for a fleet of around 100 vehicles and trailers, mainly 18 ton and vans, and you will be managing a team of 20 people directly and 100 plus indirectly.

Because of the 24/7 nature of the operation, this role is not a Monday – Friday 9-5 position, you will be required to support the operation and manage the fleet fully, there will be occasions when you will be on site across the night shift and at weekends.

The duties of the Transport Operations Manager will be:

• Managing the fleet operations at the Warrington site
• Responsible for the delivery of a safe, legally compliant and cost effective transport operation
• Manging a team of up to 20 people
• Responsible for transport systems and processes
• Identifying and developing new ways of working to meet the needs of the business
• Providing best possible service to our clients
• Working across multiple projects and working groups to meet the business needs
• Ensuring that the trunking schedules meet the needs of the client
• Management of a 7 day pre agreed/planned client collection service and depo delivery schedule
• Hold the overall accountability for the operator’s licence in the transport operation
• Dealing with all issues and enquiries and ensuring ongoing legal compliance

The ideal Transport Operations Manager will have:

• In-depth knowledge of transport legislation compliance and the legal compliance for fleet and drivers
• Experience within operational logistics and knowledge of transport governance
• O licence desirable is critical as is being a CPC National or International Holder

Salary for this role is £56,000 plus 20% bonus
