Procurement Lead

Job Description

My client is a leading technology service provider to the financial world. They enable their clients to drive their business by being a trusted technology partner. They're flexible without compromising standards. Highly selective in our people, the technology we use, the industry and our clients. Our people are vital in helping us be the market leader by providing the best possible. Their clients range from a growing number of independent asset managers, through to insurance companies and specialist banks.

This is a stand-alone role managing my client's procurement process both operationally and strategically, and working closely with the Account Management, Technical Management and Consultancy Team and Project Management Function.

Key responsibilities
  • Own the procurement process and suggest/make improvements as required
  • Manage supplier relationships from procurement perspective to achieve the best value
  • Request quotes from multiple suppliers in relation to the procurement phase of a project or business as usual requests
  • Analysing third party products and technologies to build commercials for solutions and services
  • Raising purchase orders and managing deliveries, checking items to ensure they meet orders
  • Working to troubleshoot any ordering issues
  • Working with other internal stakeholders to develop and execute advantageous partner strategy
  • Monitoring the renewals of licensing and leased technology assets
  • As part of a bid team, lead on procurement activity
  • Lead on high value procurement activity
  • Improve the efficiency of the procurement function
  • Communicate the role of the commercial team within the business
  • Validation of bill of materials (BOM) with technical assistance
  • Coordinate discussion between technical staff and suppliers
  • Understand, negotiate and validate contracts
  • Work with Project Managers to understand the scope of projects and the necessitated procurement needs
  • Audit, review, maintain and establish the process around the management of the CMDB
  • Lead on the introduction of asset management


Skills Requirements
  • Good interpersonal skill and an ability to form relationships delivering positive outcomes
  • Excellent written and oral English
  • A firm grasp of numbers
  • Good Microsoft Office skill with competence in Excel (working with formulae)
  • Attention to detail
  • A demonstrated flexible and committed work ethic
  • Ability to quickly understand new technology from a product and pricing perspective
  • Strong issue management and logical approach to problem solving
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment, ideally in the technology sector
  • Microsoft Services experience desirable but not essential
