Our client has a new and exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join their Operations Department. This role will provide support to the Purchasing Manager within the Operations Department located in Corby.

The Role

 Manage daily activities relating to stock management and requests by the planning team.

 Place purchase orders for ingredients, packaging and purchased finished goods.

 Use the IFS ERP system to action outputs as part of S&OP procedure procedures.

 Maintain a knowledge of commodity markets, and report variances / availability.

 Act as cover for the Purchasing Manager.

 Working closely with functional teams, planning, warehouse manufacturing, and technical.

 Develop relationships with suppliers and monitor performance.

 Minimal travel in the UK to suppliers / trade shows.

 Manage recipe changes, minimising write offs / highlight slow moving lines / short dated stock.

 Supporting the Innovations team by sourcing new materials / suppliers.

The Candidate

 Educated to a general GCSE standard as a minimum (‘C’ and above in Mathematics and English are essential)

 Purchasing qualification / studying membership would be desirable

Specific Experience:

Required

 Experience of purchasing, stock control and monitoring stock levels

 Experience using computerised MRP systems relating to stock control and purchasing

 Experience of working within a team

 Worked in a food manufacturing environment

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

 Ability to analysis data and interpret the numerical findings

 Confident communication skills to communicate internally with planning, production and warehousing and externally with suppliers, clarifying product availability

 Advanced level of IT skills, including Microsoft, and MRP systems.

 Good organisation skills able to plan daily routines accordingly
