The UK’s leading Marine Science Technology distributor is looking to recruit a highly organised and proactive Logistics & Compliance professional for their brand-new Head Office in Port Solent Marina.

They are looking for someone for this varied role who is capable of managing the day to day shipping, the imports and exports, various compliance schemes, operating procedures and the ISO certification.

This Company work within the global marine science technology markets and have seen 50% growth over the past 2 years. Most of their people are marine scientists and marine instrument technicians. They work with innovative and high-specification sensors, systems and platforms, and supply these mostly to scientists and engineers. They work hard, they have fun and value integrity, diversity, collaboration and innovation.

The team spend a lot of time engaging with external customers (as well as each other) about waves, fish, underwater robots, wind farms and other highly technical innovative ideas.

The successful candidate will be organised, intelligent and eager to learn about cool marine science products and services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day low volume / high value shipments from the warehouse to customers mostly in the UK, with a growing number of international shipments.
  • Negotiate fixed and firm shipping rates.
  • Problem solve complex shipments for the customers.
  • Update the software systems with accurate information.
  • Carefully check and archive import and export records.
  • Manage the QHSE documentation, keeping records accurate and up to date.
  • Manage the standard operating procedures and policies, ensuring existing and new procedures and policies are accurately documented, are approved by management, and are kept up to date.
  • Take ownership of various compliance and certification schemes, such as WEEE, Batteries and ISO9001 (with support from the technical team)
  • Provide written procedures and policies to colleagues, to support commercial bids and tenders.
  • Supporting the team with other office and commercial administration tasks as required.

Essential

  • You must be able to work confidently and collaboratively within a busy team.
  • You will need efficient and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to your work is essential, but also know when to ask for help.
  • You’ll need a sharp eye for detail.
  • Excellent organisation skills, administration and prioritisation are a must.

Desirable

  • Formal qualifications or professional accreditation in logistics
  • Experience in shipping Dangerous Goods, such as lithium batteries
  • Experience in administering or auditing ISO schemes

This is a full-time role, but flexible working will definitely be considered for the right candidate. The salary offered is up to £23k per annum depending on skills and experience. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, free on-site parking in a fantastic location are also offered.
