Our client are an International Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) organisation managing its customers' indirect material spend via an integrated e-procurement platform. Their client list includes multinational organisations such including high end automotive manufacturers to global pharmaceutical manufacturers to leading food manufacturers.

Their offering in the market is unique - This is why they continue to grow at a phenomenal rate. They have more than doubled in size over the last six years, growing their turnover from £84m to £300m.

In 2017 they acquired another business and recently moved into new premises to accommodate the growth. Headquartered in Warrington (Birchwood) but with over 350 stores across the UK, Europe and Singapore and recently expanded into Ireland, Germany, Sweden and Slovakia.

As a result of the growth, we are now looking a Technical Buyer to work on one of their client's site in Barrow in Furness on a 6 months contract, with a view of this being extended.

Job description
The Technical Buyer is a key position which will represent our client in a customer facing role, based on site at the Client Facility.

This position will be responsible for ordering indirect materials, monitoring trends, maintaining vendor relations, managing suppliers to deliver to contractual agreements (SLA's), and participating in the supplier evaluation process.

Qualified candidates have engineering supply chain management and procurement experience, with a demonstrated history of working within an ERP environment to plan materials, place purchase orders, manage supplier relationships, manage total cost, and ensure stable supply.

Desired Skills and Experience
* Minimum 3 years of supply chain management experience utilizing formal ERP material requirements planning systems, ideally SAP or similar.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent directly relevant experience / certifications required. Certifications by the Institute of Supply Management, APICS CPIM or CSCP or equivalent strongly desired.
    * Strong analytical and computer skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) required.
  • High degree of initiative and ownership, as well as a proven history of delivering results while working with several different departments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment, while also working independently.
  • Must have ability to work and remain organized and flexible. Must have ability to adjust priorities to meet changes in departmental and company requirements.
  • Ideally the candidate will have substantial knowledge of and broad experience in engineering supply chain management and procurement practices (MRO).
  • Experience within a brewing or beverage manufacturing environment would be an asset
