This is a unique role and a superb opportunity for someone looking to step from accounting / analysis into the world of procurement and purchasing.

You will be working for an innovative SME (circa £20m turnover) that operates globally and is amid growth (organically and through acquisitions).

You will report straight to the small board of directors (a forward thinking and ambitious leadership team with a modern approach).

Your you take responsibility for driving improvements in the businesses’ purchasing function primarily based on a more analytical, data-driven approach to analysing the stock position.

The successful individual will build processes that ensures a proactive approach to:

  • Price per unit (liaising with suppliers and using well informed analysis / evidence to challenge pricing)
  • Forecasting demand (based on analysis of recent sales trends and by working closely with sales teams - being on the front foot in terms of trends / spikes in customer demand)
  • Stock availability
  • Making accurate buying decisions based on the forecast demand and managing the orders with suppliers to ensure deliveries arrive on time
  • Working with colleagues and suppliers to ensure new product launches are well managed from a purchasing perspective
  • Management and control of the freight costs ensuring that these are minimised by using the appropriate ratio of sea vs air freight

You will be:

  • An intelligent (graduate level) and proactive individual able to demonstrate a track record of success in either an analytical role or relevant finance / procurement arena.
  • Someone who will take ownership of the analysis and business partnering (internally and with suppliers) to drive positive change.
  • Someone able to influence change - ensuring deadlines are met through strong analysis and excellent communication skills.
