Our client is a wholesale manufacturing business based in Leeds with a turnover of £7m are seeking to recruit a Buyer to join their supply chain team. The role of Buyer plays a critical role in managing 70 suppliers for £2m spend across a broad portfolio.
The Buyer will have career development and qualification advancement within the business, the Buyer will be entitled to CIPs investment which will support the career development to Senior Buyer.
Based in Leeds the Buyer will take responsibility of cost downs, cost avoidance, market analysis and product benchmarks for the customer service and sales teams and lead the purchasing activity to source components to meet the specification requirements.
The role is part of an existing team of four people who have extensive experience within the industry. The client is seeking individuals with a want to drive significant value propositions.
The Buyer/Material Controller's duties will include:
*Take the ownership of the supply base leading negotiations with vendors to meet the needs of the business orders
*Seek to drive cost savings on the component parts and ensure OTIF across the products
*Support and drive solutions within your area of control, operational and new product launch
*Support the ERP/MRP system
*Enhance current plans supporting industry-leading KPIs
*Drive continual improvement in the way the team operates across the business to incorporate improved lean practices
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
*Ideally Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and related experience - MCIPS/CIPS preferred
*Demonstrable track record in purchasing
*Excellent analytical skill
*Good to advanced Excel skills - Micros/Pivot tables
*Excellent material systems experience (or similar)
*Knowledge of working in supply markets
*Familiar with manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements
*Ability to obtain appropriate market intelligence, analyse and provide concise updates to key stakeholders
*Good verbal and written communication skills
