We are currently recruiting for a fantastic organisation that are seeking to recruit an individual with good exposure to buying/procurement to join their Procurement Team as a Category Specialist.
The role will require you to liaise with new & existing suppliers and manufacturers, maintain and improve the performance of the product range through proactive management of existing items and ensuring that the supplier portfolio allows the company to introduce new items in line with the defined purchasing strategy.
Duties will include:
- Ensure the most suitable range and depth of products are available to our customers and that they are tailored commercially where appropriate for individual markets across the world
- Maintenance of existing supplier commercial relationships and strategy
- Become the leading authority for assigned product groups from a commercial perspective within the company
- Maintain and improve the performance of the product range through proactive management of existing item
- Commercial awareness for purchasing
- The investigation of potential commercial improvements
- Strategy implementation
- Build upon market and competitor knowledge
- Full understanding of product and range
- Supplier and trade show visits including international travel
- Patent awareness
- Warranty issues and concerns
- Supplier visits
- Support and assist the Category Procurement team
Skills and experience required
- Previous experience in Procurement, planning or purchasing is essential
- Product management experience is a distinct advantage
- SAP knowledge would be a distinct advantage
- High level of Microsoft office skills - especially Excel
- Negotiation skills
- Organised, high attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills - internal and external
