Our client is undergoing an exciting phase of growth and expansion within the technology field, and are looking for a category manager to define their global strategy and drive projects within sub-categories such as software, hardware and telecoms.

What does the role entail?
The IT Procurement Category manager will work on global technology procurement projects - working with the main technology stakeholders across the business to gain an understanding of their requirements, before performing market assessments and due diligence to select the ideal partners from the market. This is a business going through exciting change and growth so the challenge will be to work with the relevant stakeholders to gain buy in for procurement and create strategic partner both inside and outside the business.
You'll be developing and implementing a procurement strategy plan covering all elements of category management (sub-categories include hardware, software, hosting & telecoms) and seeing through projects from start-to-finish meeting and negotiating with suppliers, as well as maintaining those relationships. This will a involve a variety of projects but more interestingly, selecting new suppliers for a range of complex services. A key aspect of the procurement projects you'll be running, will also be to ensure that their high standards are met and manage relationships as such.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive IT Category procurement experience including sub-categories such as Hardware, Software, Hosting and Telecoms
- Proven people and procurement project management skills
- The ability to manage and influence both internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to deliver on demanding procurement project deadlines and tangible individual savings targets
- Degree educated + CIPS (or working towards...)
