Silverlake Automotive Recycling is a profitable £25m family-owned business that has been established for 70 years in the automotive recycling industry and is based between Southampton and Portsmouth.

We are creating a new and challenging position for someone to improve the work flow and operations of the business, and we are looking for applications from people with the skills and qualities set out below.

The Job:

Reporting to the Senior Management Team, the Operations Manager will ensure that standards and quality are improved and adhered to in all processes throughout the recycling operation. The job requires a reasonable knowledge of vehicles and their constituent parts, although the person we are looking for does not need to have worked in the motor trade. Ideally they will have several years experience of managing people and processes and a passion for achieving and maintaining high standards of quality.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Possess the management skills necessary to drive the day to day operations.
  • Track record in managing people and processes and the ability to work as part of a team of dedicated professionals.
  • Basic computer skills are essential, and training will be given in the specialised computer applications used in the business.
  • The drive to achieve results in a friendly manner, while at the same time setting and maintaining the quality and standards required to achieve great commercial results.
  • Ability to enjoy challenging situations and willingness to question the status quo.

Additional qualities:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to absorb and impart factual information to others.
  • Ability to work within standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent organisation skills and a systematic and perfectionist approach to solving problems.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work at pace.

Salary: £36 - £55k (OTE)
