Experienced Procurement Manager required. 45-50k pa, private medical insurance, free parking.

As someone who is commercially astute, who enjoys the detail and numbers but can see the bigger picture, and who can see a deal and is able to close, you will enjoy change and be keen to make an impact. This role is fundamental to developing the company and strengthening it's management team. There is a significant direct and indirect spend, so they are seeking an experienced and proven procurement professional to take on full responsibility for the function and team, plus contribute as a senior manager across the whole business. The role will directly report into the Managing Director and is based in Andover.

As the Procurement Manager you will:

• Review, negotiate and manage Long Term Agreements for all critical long lead-time raw materials sourced globally to ensure continuity of supply and suitable UK stock levels to support changing demand
• Lead a comprehensive review of all direct and indirect spend and develop an action plan to reduce costs, maintain / improve delivery and quality, plus maintain excellent service levels from the supply chain
• Assess the whole team in procurement, materials and stock control. Specify clear roles and responsibilities and manage their performance
• Develop a functional structure that can support the growth of the business
• Be active in the supply chain to build relationships, manage performance, assess capabilities and capacity, conduct audits and other key activities
• Review current processes, controls and governance of all procurement and stock control activities
• Review the approval process for all expenditure and ensure compliance
• Develop a culture of "doing deals" and delivering best value
• Maintain and optimise raw and finished good stocks, including accurate cycle counts and support year-end audit
• Take ownership of standard costs and ensure that the system is 100% accurate
• Develop a procurement strategy that ensures that a capable and sufficient supply chain is in place to support the planned growth
• Lead supplier management and performance
• Work closely with finance to ensure all spend needs and controls are in place
• Take ownership of daily issues, resolving appropriately using personal judgement and initiative
• Lead and own all key supplier relationships and build strong professional relationships
• Ensure best value procurement with proper purchase order placement and terms and conditions in place to support all procurement activities
• Review and negotiate fair or ideally improved payment terms
• Ensure that mandatory import and export requirements are understood and the necessary is done in order to meet the appropriate company, national and international obligations
• Be prepared to challenge everything in terms of the role remit and contribute as a senior manager across the whole company

To succeed as the Procurement Manager you will have:

• Comprehensive procurement experience gained from working within technical ideally manufacturing SME companies serving different industries
• Proven and strong man management skills and leadership
• Excellent communication skills - a confident communicator, negotiator and great relationship builder
• CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply) and other relevant qualifications
• Ability to operate on both a tactical and strategic level
• Demonstrable successful career in procurement that shows development and progression into a current senior level role
• Expertise in implementing new procedures, processes and systems including MRP / ERP
• Strong technical background with a good understanding of most engineering and manufacturing methods and processes
• Commercial acumen, driven and a can-do attitude
• Experience of management and leadership to a team
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet demanding deadlines
• Excellent personal time-management, organisation and planning skills
• Proactive and flexible attitude to meet the needs of a fast paced and dynamic environment
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
