Sewell Wallis are currently working with market leading manufacturing company looking to add an experienced Purchasing Manager to their growing team.

Salary: £35,000
Location: Derby
Hours: Mon - Fri - 40 hours including paid 45 mins per day lunch break
Benefits: 30 days paid holiday entitlement, performance related bonus (5%), pension scheme, PMI (after 12 months service), annual salary review.

The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing a wide range of both food ingredients and packaging to ensure optimum stock levels

Duties & Responsibilities:

*Ensure that there are adequate stocks of raw materials, packaging and consumables on site to meet the production programmes of all products
*Place orders for all of the above and monitor deliveries
*Proactively monitor stock and re-order levels in line with individual supplier lead times to ensure orders are placed on time
*Create an automatic system or spreadsheet using Sage 200 system to show stock and usage levels to support stock control and re-order timing
*Use the above as the basis for daily/weekly reports
*Regularly discuss and review the production programmes and sales forecasts with the Commercial Manager
*Ensure customer orders/deliveries for all products are met in line with their service level requirement.
*Approve supplier invoices for costs and quantities
*Monitor the costs of all raw materials and packaging to ensure cost effective purchasing
*Look for ways to reduce costs and wastage
*Keep within agreed budget/cost targets
*Keep the Commercial Manager informed of any potential shortages of raw materials, packaging and consumables
*Manage the import and export for raw materials and finished goods and associated documentation.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

*Purchasing experience within the food or pharmaceutical industry
*CIPS qualification (desirable)
*Experience working with Sage line 200
*Excellent organisational & negotiation skills
*Able to communicate effectively at all levels
