Our clients offer a unique service to its customers and is currently looking for an export freight forwarding coordinator to work within the export department at its offices based near Braintree.

Purpose of the role:

Process all aspects of the Freight Forwarding Export Operations from initial booking through to job completion and subsequent invoicing.

Handling of Export Deep and Short Sea LCL/FCL bookings; receiving and making Bookings, arranging transport, issuing relevant documentation (House and Master Bills), Customs Export Entries, Releases & deliveries, Invoicing.

Interaction with customers, team members and all internal departments including Sales, Operations, Transport & Finance.

Duties will include:

  • Liaise with customers and other departments during the booking process ensuring all bookings are handled in accordance with the companies terms.
  • Placing of bookings with respective Shipping Line, Carrier or Agent.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure correct export documentation is received for the shipment(s) and forwarded to the Shipping Line, Carrier, or Agent as necessary.
  • Ensure Shipping Line/ Carrier/ Agent have instructions for Bills of Lading, VGM and UCR references in a timely manner.
  • Check Draft Bill of Lading and ensure customer has receives a copy for approval. Send approved Draft Bill of Lading to Shipping Line/Carrier/ Agent.
  • Allocation of incoming payments on IT system.
  • Ensure booking(s) are invoiced correctly by Shipping Line/Carrier/ Agent as per contract rates or other spot rates as appropriate.
  • Work closely with other departments such as Transport and Finance.
  • Ensure invoice(s) have been paid before Bill of Lading/Cargo is Released and dispatched.

Experience required:

To be successful for the role you will have gained experience within either a Freight forwarding or Logistics organisation dealing with Export shipments by Sea, any Knowledge of Exports by Road and Air would be an advantage.

You will be Customer Service focused and have the ability to build and develop relationships with both customers and suppliers with good communication and organisational skills and with commercial awareness.

Able to work of own initiative with a friendly, approachable manner and have the ability to stay calm in a challenging and pressurised environment

Salary £24/26k depending on experience
