Logistics Manager / Planner needed near Ringwood, circa £35k + benefits, weekdays only

Your new role
In this position you will lead the Logistics solution, ensuring that customers receive excellent service, delivered in a cost-effective manner, monitoring vehicle fill and other metrics to drive performance. You will work with the leadership team to understand current processes, design and implement improvements. You should enjoy problem solving and have a track record of using a common sense approach to understand and improve processes. You will be commercially aware and comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders. In this position you will lead a small team including a Transport Planner and Administrator, as well as 3 drivers / FLT operatives, supporting their further development and training to meet the changing needs of the business. As well as a handful of own vehicles (artics and 7.5t), you will also control the loads that are sent via various haulier and courier partners, monitoring performance and cost. You will capture all relevant data to enable sound business decisions to be made.

What you'll need to succeed
This company is happy to consider people from any relevant background. This could be controlling outsourced logistics, or having operational control of your own vehicles, or some combination of the two. You do not need to be a CPC holder but should be interested in becoming qualified as the company will provide the training and support is the successful candidate is not already a CPC holder. Your CV will demonstrate successes in a similar role - improving service and reducing costs. Your background may be within a similar manufacturing business, but we are also happy to talk to people from 3PL, Retail or other distribution environments. The essential requirements are that you know the factors that influence the performance of a Transport / Logistics function, and can motivate and lead a small team in the delivery of an excellent service. You will be comfortable in a KPI driven environment, be IT literate, and a strong communicator. You will have an eye for detail, be commercially aware, and enjoy making a positive impact at work.
