Export & Import Manager

Location: Cambridge - South Cambridge

Salary: £30,000p.a. depending on experience

Hours: Full-time

An excellent opportunity for an experienced and hardworking Logistics Manager. Within this role you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth movement of all products through the company and to the customers. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager you will be the primary point of contact for all orders and provide full logistics support.

Duties:

  • To look for and actively progress opportunities for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics function
  • Responsibility for all aspects of customs, duty, import and export for all UK and German operations (including retention of necessary documents)
  • First point of contact for advice on shipments for other subsidiaries
  • Responsibility for the intercompany orders
  • Ensure that all import, export and despatch processes are documented and reviewed annually.
  • To keep the computer systems up to date at all times
  • Rectify any problems with processes as they arise
  • Ensure that the despatch area is maintained in a clean, tidy and ordered fashion - adopt 5S methodology and visual standards
  • Ensure the working environment is safe and report any Health and Safety concerns to your line manager or the QA Manager
  • Adopt a culture of continuous improvement
  • Work collaboratively within the supply chain and other functions within the business
  • Receive goods for despatch and ensure relevant packaging and processes are adhered to through to the final shipment to customer
  • Prepare despatch paperwork and arrange shipment in conjunction with couriers
  • Receive RMA's, record and distribute to correct parties
  • Operate forklift as required and maintain license to operate
  • To call off and manage packaging materials and ensure that any packaging legislation is adhered to and information on packaging use is available upon request
  • Be aware of all legislation affecting imports and exports, ensuring full compliance with requirements
  • To provide holiday cover for the supply chain team as required

Candidate Requirements:

  • You must have strong import / export experience
  • Solid knowledge of import & export legislation and relevant documentation
  • Be Flexible and willing to involve yourself in other tasks as seen to be appropriate by the company
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Previous experience of operating a forklift would be ideal
