Procurement Category Leads X2 

Permanent - Full Time 

£64,656 - £65,712 per annum (PO13) 

Hackney Council is looking for exceptional candidates with extensive procurement experience and knowledge to join its well established and dynamic procurement category management team as Procurement Category Leads.

Hackney Procurement Service takes pride in supporting the Council to build on its past achievements in service delivery and to continue to provide excellent services for the people who rely on them. The Procurement Category Lead plays a major role in the delivery of departmental service objectives

To succeed in this role, you must be able to build fruitful working relationships with diverse stakeholders both within the organisation and externally. We will need you to negotiate and deal with external suppliers both as part of the tendering process and in ongoing management of contractual issues. You will also need well developed judgement and discretion to deal with current and emerging issues. 

Procurement Category Lead - Corporate Services

As Category Lead - Corporate Services, you will be managing a programme of procurement projects which cut across the spectrum of the requirements we procure to run the Council and ensure that we are operationally efficient. You will be required to provide high level specialist procurement advice to managers and co-ordinate procurement activities not limited to a specific department or directorate but across areas where our corporate services contracts reside, making sure that service departments achieves best value from all their contracts and in the management of allocated contracts. 

You will also take the lead and be responsible for managing portfolio of procurement projects for ICT, Facilities management, Energy Supplies, Vehicle Fleet supplies and support services, Financial services, Communications, and Human Resources. You will be leading on our most complex procurements for this category, making sure they are conducted in line with the regulatory requirements, our policies and service priorities. 

Procurement Category Lead - Construction & Environmental Services

As Category Lead for Construction and Environment, you will be managing a programme of major construction related procurement projects which are not only within our Housing and Regeneration divisions (major spend areas) but across other areas where construction activities are taking place. You will be required to provide high level specialist procurement advice to managers and co-ordinate procurement activities across the construction and environment, making sure that service departments achieves best value from all their contracts and in the management of allocated contracts.

You will also take the lead and be responsible for managing portfolio of procurement projects for Highways, Parks and Ground maintenance and other environment construction works contracts. You will be leading on our most complex procurements for this category, making sure they are conducted in line with the regulatory requirements, our policies and service priorities. 

Our ideal candidates for these roles must have strong procurement experience and knowledge of the category they are applying for, with sound technical expertise of best practice within the relevant industries. We need someone with an in-depth knowledge of contract regulations and a solid understanding of OJEU processes. There is a lot of work to be done, so you will need to be an experienced project planner with an eye for detail
