Senior Category Manager

A quasi-public sector organisation need a Senior Category Manager. Applicants need a deep understanding of Category Management, within a public sector, corporate, or professional services type environment.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the Senior Category Manager will play a lead role within the sourcing function and help deliver progressive strategies. Alongside cost saving and value maximisation objectives, the Senior Category Manager will have chance to shape the approach and team, influence stakeholders and grow business maturity in understanding and addressing commercial risks. The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for a diverse range of indirect spend areas - IT & technology, print, warehousing, and logistics.

Specific duties of the Senior Category Manager include:

• Development of category management and broader procurement and commercial strategies
• Supply market intelligence, benchmarking and supplier selection activities
• Gain understanding of stakeholder requirements, and build commercial solutions around these
• Maintain and develop relationships with critical suite of supply partners
• Contribute to supplier relationship management and contract management activities
• Support Head of Procurement in developing and mentoring the Procurement team

Senior Category Manager applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Experience of designing and developing category management strategies
• Knowledge of a broad range of indirect spend category areas
• Procurement experience within a complex, corporate, matrix structured procurement environment
• Knowledge of SAP and/or OEJU, would be advantageous
• MCIPS / Degree - preferred
