Our client provides bespoke gritting and snow clearance service contracts within the Facilities and Property Management sector nationwide.

They are looking for an Operations Manager to manage the operational side of the business. You will be responsible for the Operations Team which includes 3 Operation Coordinators. The key part of your role will be to ensure that the department runs efficiently and effectively and deal with any issues that may arise.

As part of your role you will implement processes and procedures and ensure they are always adhered to. Ideally, you will have a background in the Logistics sector and have knowledge regarding Driving Hours and Working Time Directive.

Role and Responsibilities

The role will report directly to the Managing Director.

  • Manage the team of Operations Coordinators to ensure the smooth running of the department
  • Support Directors in planning and ensuring the business is adequately resourced to fulfil contract obligations
  • Oversee supply chain assessment, visits, recruitment and allocation. Site visits supplying any specific RAMS. Measuring performance in H&S, environment and quality Overseeing vehicle/ machinery maintenance. Upkeep of local depot(s) and warehouse(s)
  • Ensuring the full and complete delivery of service to all client sites when service is activated by the daily weather forecasts
  • Develop and assist the team - motivating, training, setting tasks and goals to encourage an independent and accountable workforce
  • Work within our bespoke Service and CRM system (training given)
  • Learn and understand weather forecasting (training given)

The candidate will ideally have had some, but not necessarily all, of the following:

  • Strong proven track record in Management
  • Exceptional IT Skills
  • The ability to quickly understand and learn all elements of the business
  • Pricing and negotiating skills
  • Logistics / Operational / Service Delivery experience - meeting KPIs
  • A very 'hands on’ approach - enhanced driving qualifications ideal
  • Plan timing of work, monitor progress, ensure delivery
  • Balances own workload so that all operational requirements are met on time
  • Complete understanding of Driving rules & Regulations
  • HGV Licence desirable

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 09:30 to 17:00 but you must be able to be flexible, 28 days holiday (which includes Bank Holidays) & Discretionary Bonus.
