We are actively recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager - Landscape to join our client a leading Landscape and Ground Maintenance organisation near Farnham, Surrey. The Contracts Manager is responsible for the daily running of work schedules to delivery of safe and compliant services to meet contractual specification on time and on budget. You will also be responsible for scheduling work, managing service operatives, co-ordinating the supply of equipment, materials and managing client relationships on site.

Reporting to :- Head of Landscaping

Key Areas of Responsibilities :-

1. Operations

  • Schedule the work for all contracts. Ensure resource is used efficiently and works are delivered on time.
  • Work with the Co-ordinator to ensure all operatives are fully equipped each day with the necessary tools, equipment and materials to complete required tasks.
  • Undertake regular site visits to ensure that operations are carried out to the appropriate quality, frequency and timescales.
  • Work with the Head of Landscaping in interviewing, recruiting and inducting new starters
  • Ensure that all contracts are fully manned with the correct number of appropriately skilled and trained staff.
  • Manage staff attendance and plan for seasonal demand variations, leave, sickness and absence to ensure that all contractual obligations are met and maintained.
  • Ensure operatives’ time is managed effectively; at the beginning and end of each day

2. Customers

  • Conduct operational reviews with customers, as required, to ensure contract compliance and explore new revenue opportunities together with the commercial team.
  • Promptly deal with any customer complaints, effectively manage any operational deficiencies and communicate all corrective actions back to customers within agreed timescales.
  • 3. Compliance
  • Ensure all systems and procedures are in place for effective operations in a compliant manner, implementing company policy as appropriate and recognising authority limits for role.
  • Proactively take responsibility for all Health and Safety matters relating to staff, sites, contracts and vehicles, equipment and machinery under their remit.
  • Create a positive safety culture where everyone works efficiently and safely, risks are mitigated and injuries to do not occur or are a rare occurrence.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with the correct policies and procedures (including company, client, ISO 9001 and 14001 procedures as applicable)
  • Develop new working procedures, as appropriate. ISO 9001 and 14001 guidelines
  • Work closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure that all vehicles, equipment and machinery used to deliver their contracts are properly maintained. Ensure that any damage is effectively reported and any required actions arising dealt with promptly.

4. Finance

  • Achieve monthly sales targets, as set by the Head of Landscaping, through the delivery of landscaping services.
  • Maintain good relationships and control suppliers to ensure on time delivery of goods, materials and equipment, guaranteeing quality and competitive rates
  • Continually drive costs out of service delivery without impacting on service quality
  • Support the Head of Landscaping and the Commercial team in the monthly applications process

5. Competency

  • Achieve monthly sales targets, as set by the Head of Landscaping, through the delivery of landscaping services.

  • NVQ 4 in Amenity Horticulture or similar (preferable).
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 qualifications or similar (preferable).
  • RHS horticultural training or equivalent.
  • Health and Safety training to a high level (IOSH, NEBOSH or similar).
  • Experience as a Manager, preferably within the industry.
  • Full UK Driving License essential
