Job Title: Supplier Manager

Salary: To £50000.00 Dependant on experience

Role Overview

Sopra Steria provides project services to support a large and extremely complex Client Portfolio Plan. The project services team, based on the client site, consists primarily of architects, project managers and project management office resources. In a drive to increase the throughput of projects, Sopra Steria is looking increasingly to sub-contract elements of project delivery to third party suppliers. This involves working closely with the Sopra Steria central procurement function. As our Supplier manager, you will be the key liaison point between the account project management community, the account commercial manager, Sopra Steria central procurement function and third party suppliers, working very closely with the central Procurement Team to ensure alignment to Sopra Steria’s overall supplier and partner strategies.

Please note, our roles require the successful candidate to be eligible for and willing to undergo a Security clearance process.

Responsibilities:

  • Key liaison point between the account project management community, the account commercial manager, Sopra Steria central procurement function and third party suppliers.

  • Work with the central Procurement Team; ensure alignment to Sopra Steria’s overall supplier and partner strategies to manage third party supplier input into project proposals to the client.

  • Drive supplier management processes and activity.

  • Maintain close working relationship with the Sopra Steria portfolio delivery manager

  • Project Management Assurance - provide stewardship to the project delivery teams so that they and third party suppliers are mobilising all aspects of the portfolio.

  • Ensure governance applied to all third party supplier engagements.

  • Find opportunities for cost reduction in the supply base & opportunities to consolidate suppliers and increase leverage in the supplier base including utilisation of existing central and local suppliers

  • Ensure the correct on-boarding for all third party suppliers into the Programme. This includes working with the account Commercial Manager & the central Procurement team on defining and agreeing contractual & commercial arrangements, such as:

    • *Prime vs Sub contracts alignment,

    • *Defining milestone acceptance,

    • *Central procurement input, agree commercial & contractual supplier agreements

  • Management of third party supplier performance management reviews

  • Manage escalations from the client, the account team / the third party supplier.

  • Responsible for the provision and maintenance of all supplier management documentation, including Plans, Processes, Procedures, Technical and Work Instructions which are required to underpin project(s) and the project management process.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of the Supplier Management processes / make recommendations for improvement.

  • Develop / maintain Supplier Management systems.

Essential Experience:

  • Ability to demonstrate practical experience of working with the supplier/vendor management space.

  • Ability to negotiate on prices and contract terms in order to deliver savings, commercial value & project delivery

  • Knowledge of contracts and contracting process.

  • Good commercial awareness, including influencing profit margins on deals.

  • Understanding Procurement’s impact on Client contracts and commercials.

  • Able to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, peers and senior management.

  • Member of a recognised professional procurement body (e.g. CIPS)

Desired Experience:

  • Working on client-related procurement projects.

  • IT procurement activities, requirements and supplier management.

  • Budget track record

  • Understands service delivery models

  • Experience in contract management

  • Membership of a recognized professional IT body

  • Relevant sector experience

  • Assertive and pragmatic leader
