Job Details

An independent business that deliver services in the aviation industry is recruiting an experienced Procurement Manager on a permanent basis. You will join a world-leading specialist in providing solutions that reduce costs, improve profitability whilst supporting brand values for a wide range of customers. As Procurement Manager you will report directly to the Head of Procurement and manage two direct reports yourself. You will lead the consumable contract services, ensuring robust and timely procurement delivery.

You will ideally be CIPS qualified to level 5, although if you are working towards this there is support offered to complete your training. Responsibilities of the role:

As a key member of the procurement management structure you will be responsible for the efficient delivery of strategic procurement objectives, whilst maintaining key relationships with stakeholders and suppliers alike. Further deliverables of the role include;

Strategic Sourcing;

  • Establishes mechanisms to identify and quantify (estimate) on-going sourcing-based opportunities to reduce TCO of business unit products and services across the supply chain and within the organisation, e.g. daily buying, supply management, other sourcing/buying activity.
  • Ensuring products are bought for the right price on all occasions, protecting company margin
  • Demand is maximised in the supply chain, resulting in achieving the optimum value for money position
  • Compiling and maintaining comprehensive supply base records such as; contractual information, supply chain information and stakeholder engagement 
  • Develops metrics and MI reports to track improvements over time, reporting to senior management, aligning to target operating models where directed.
  • Conducts joint benchmarking and best practice reviews on operational procurement practices.
  • Price and commercial evaluation and negotiation on new business opportunities

Supplier Management;

  • Coordinates supplier performance and engagement through the development of appropriate mechanisms and systems
  • Develops key performance indicators to track improvements flowing from implementation
  • Reviews the overall effectiveness of supplier contracts and relationships, identifies further opportunities and implements improvements
  • Ensures that supplier engagement optimises stakeholder requirements.
  • Takes pro-active action based on supplier performance measurements

Team Leadership;

  • Reviewing team workloads
  • Ensuring team performance
  • Hold monthly team reviews and meetings

Skills and experience required for the role:

The Procurement Manager will be experienced in strategic sourcing within a customer facing environment. You will be comfortable in managing significant spend values with the ability to work with commercial edge. Further skills and experience required are as follows;

  • MCIPS qualified or studying towards with achievement at least to level 5.
  • The ability to craft long-term internal and external business relationships; excel in cause and change management.
  • Proven negotiation experience
  • Analytical nature
  • Reasonable knowledge of commercial agreements
  • Highly motivated with a capability to handle demanding workload that requires accuracy
  • Proven ability to solve problems promptly and effectively
  • Sound stakeholder management experience
  • Leadership capability
