Buyer at Silent Sentinel Ltd

Working in the Accounts department reporting into the Company Accountant.

Permanent, full-time (Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm).

Silent Sentinel design, manufacture and supply technologically advanced, market-leading surveillance and security systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage all procurement functions to support the production department.
  • Supplier negotiation.
  • Raise Purchase Orders on the Sage accounting and MRP system.
  • Tracking and chasing suppliers on delivery dates for goods or services on order and updating the order tracking system.
  • Ensure department records are maintained in accordance with established policies, procedures and audit guidelines.
  • Undertake price negotiations with suppliers as needed and serve as the company representative to prospective suppliers.
  • Communicate company needs and gather information from suppliers regarding their products and services.
  • In the case of price increases, initiate negotiations with suppliers to mitigate increase and/or develop plans to mitigate and/or offset price increases.
  • Source new suppliers using the internet and existing supply chain contacts.
  • Check shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that goods meet specifications.
  • Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries.
  • Communicate regularly with management keeping them abreast with products, prices, deliveries.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements for Buyer Role

  • Must have GCSE Maths and English "C" or above (or equivalent).
  • You must be able to take total accountability for your role.
  • Ability to handle workloads and self-manage.
  • Experienced Buyer with strong negotiating skills.
  • Excellent customer service and will have a proactive and positive approach to change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with others.
  • Experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • Good organisational skills and able to work to demanding deadlines.
  • Experience in using computerised systems for procurement (preferably Sage).
  • Commitment to working full time role.
