Salary: circa £45,000pa plus 25days Holiday, Pension, Private Medical, Car Allowance and 3% flexible benefits

Location: Flexible base location - Leeds, Salford, Sheffield, Bristol and Southampton

Role overview

We are currently recruiting a Bid Manager for an exciting opportunity to drive the planning, production and submission of formal Tender proposals in response to Public Sector requirements, for new and existing clients.

You will work closely with our Business Development team in order to develop and deliver compelling Tender proposals.

Able to project manage opportunities, you will follow bid best practice to ensure that deliverables are of the highest standard and maximise the chance of winning business. You will manage a variety bids, with responsibility for establishing the cost of sale budget for each bid and monitoring expenditure against that budget.

This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. You will require strong people management and commercial skills to be successful in this position

Due to the nature of the role there will potentially be UK travel required, therefore home working will be an option and there are various offices across the UK atop the main base in Leeds available to work from (Salford, Sheffield, Bristol, & Southampton).

Key responsibilities

  • Be responsible for ensuring bids are submitted on time and to a high standard
  • Report as required on the progress of each bid against agreed programme.
  • Review technical solutions to ensure most cost efficient solutions are submitted
  • Implement bid strategies to co-ordinate the preparation and submission
  • Develop in conjunction with service lines and the marketing team proposal collateral
  • Present internally for approval, information incl technical responses, staffing and administration structures for bid preparation
  • Co-ordinate, prepare and continually review bid submissions.
  • Prepare meeting schedules and coordination of the design and construct teams
  • Prepare bid presentation

Essential skills

  • Bid Management experience.
  • Sales orientation and awareness with a practical understanding of bid management best practice.
  • Able to work under pressure to fixed deadlines.
  • Able to matrix manage a team of experienced subject matter experts.
  • Highly competent in use of MS office tools.

Desirable skills

  • Member of Bid Management professional body e.g. Association of Proposal Management professionals (APMP).
  • Understanding of risk management in a bidding context
  • Understanding of legal and contractual matters as they affect bidding
  • Formal sales experience / training
