Key Responsibilities:
• Run the day to day operation of the transport office reporting directly to the transport manager
• Ensure the efficient and timely delivery to clients
• Ensure all drivers are working legally and in-line with the European driving laws, dealing with infringements where necessary
• Maintain site H&S, improving areas where necessary
• Effectively manage the transport office staff and over 50 drivers
• Take a proactive approach to communicating with clients and update on delayed loads
• Develop and maintain client relationships and winning new contracts where possible
• Investigate and correctly report all accidents, debriefing drivers and reporting information to site manager
• Manage all transport based KPIs
• Regular meeting with the warehouse to ensure smooth loading and delivery
• HR and admin processes, including back to work, grievances, sickness and holidays
• Monitor, track and report costing trends
Ideal Qualities:
- Experience of managing in a transport office, with over 50 drivers
- Unionized Environment
- Knowledge of Transport software
- Keen eye for continuous improvement of site processes and H&S
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong management skills and able to drive KPI performance
