The Company & Role:

Our client, an international group which trades, distributes and manufactures metals, metal products and construction materials, is looking for a Senior Shipping Coordinator to join their team in London.

Duties:

  • Arrange shipments and deliveries of material from different continents and onwards to Customer’s factories
  • To monitor the status of different cargos whilst the goods are in transit
  • Issue and raise contracts for traders and pricing letters, packing lists, invoices and certificates of origin send to customers
  • Arrange payments to suppliers, warehouses and freight forwarders
  • Input shipping and trading data into trading system - ITAS
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, warehouses and freight forwarders via telephone and email
  • General admin support and ad hoc duties

Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a  good understanding of Shipping operations but consideration will be given to those with transferable skills
  • High attention to detail is essential – candidates will need to demonstrate accuracy, numeracy and proof-reading skills
  • The ability to accurately input volumes of detailed data into complex accounting and trading systems
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written in terms of clarity and the ability to manage customer expectations
  • Good all-round knowledge of and competency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • A team player who can demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional tasks
  • Comfortable with the responsibility of working to deadlines and meeting customers’ requirements
  • GCSE Maths and English are essential – skills tests will be issued at interview

In Return:

You will receive a salary circa £35k depending on experience

Hours are 8.30am – 16.30pm with 1 hour for lunch
