The Company:
Nigel Wright Supply Chain and Procurement Division are working exclusively with a leading engineering company in the North East as they look to appoint into the role of Purchasing Lead
The Role:
The Purchasing Lead will have line management responsibility for two Buyers, key remit will include both Direct and Indirect Spend:
- Managing materials' purchasing and commodity strategy development for multiple business units
- Implementing Purchasing best practice and process - managing and developing the team
- New supplier sourcing/strategy development in line with company strategy and growth plans
- Commodity strategy planning - focusing upon cost reduction
- Market pricing analysis
- Representing Procurement on key projects/NPI
- Supplier development/performance management - implementing SLAs, cost reduction
The Person:
The ideal candidate will:
- Proven purchasing track record from within an engineering/medium volume manufacturing/machining environment
- Good understanding of engineering principles in addition to purchasing best practice
- Be able to evidence delivering significant cost savings and VAVE approach
- Experience of Asian sourcing beneficial
- Commodity experience - castings, steel, machined components beneficial
- Resilient, confident in challenging resistance
- Excellent relationship builder, negotiator and influencer - external suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Previous people management experience beneficial
