Job Title: Purchasing Executive

Salary: £21,331 - £25,822 per annum

Location: Hassocks - own transport essential due to location

Duration: Permanent

Hours: 37.5-hour week, between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00, Monday to Friday

We're delighted to be working with a leading global aircraft component service provider in their search for a Purchasing Executive to join their team. As the Purchasing Executive, you will be responsible for reviewing and purchasing inventory to meet business requirements. The successful candidate will be required to liaise with suppliers and deliver a high-quality service level, ensuring on time deliveries, as well as developing the company and supplier relationships.

In this role you will continue the company's standards and strive to provide exceptional customer service whilst maintaining and building effective partnerships. This will be an exciting position for someone who has some experience purchasing and has a genuine interest and passion for the aviation industry.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Purchase inventory for stock and specific customer requirements
  • Utilise company pooling solutions, maintaining optimum inventory levels to support business
  • Evaluate and recommend suppliers to quality and industry approved standards
  • Negotiate with Suppliers to obtain best price, terms and warranty
  • Issue purchase orders on behalf of the company
  • Expedite open orders to achieve delivery requirements
  • Develop and maintain excellent company/supplier relationships
  • Co-ordinate with internal department to ensure PO compliance
  • Assist with department training and interdepartmental training of new staff
  • Obtain warranty return approvals and liaise with internal departments on rejected units
  • Organise supplier meetings including occasional travel to supplier sites
  • Produce and analyse reports, help to monitor departmental KPI's
  • Identify, monitor and liaise with non-performing Suppliers
  • Monitor improvement measures with non-performing suppliers
  • Support the Purchasing Team Leader to undertake other duties /projects as required
  • Adhere to company processes and procedures
  • Understand and adhere to Export Control regulations where relevant

Skills required:

  • Minimum 12 months' experience in an aircraft component, MRO or trading environment preferably within purchasing
  • Knowledge of aircraft components with awareness of component conditions, certification and airworthiness regulations
  • Understanding of IPC's, alternative part numbers and aircraft effectivity would be beneficial
  • Passion to develop in depth knowledge and skills within the Purchasing department
  • Proactive, self-motivated and driven to succeed in a busy environment
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, verbal and written
  • Enjoy engaging with customers, suppliers and internal departments, ability to build excellent relationships
  • Professional and confident telephone skills
  • Ability and drive to guide and mentor Purchasing Administrators
  • Strong organisation, time management and excellent administration skills
  • Good computer literacy, highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook with some experience with Quantum and web-based Aircraft parts databases highly advantageous
  • Language skills desirable
