I am working with a renowned engineering/manufacturing company in the Blackburn area who are looking to recruit a Buyer. You will form part of a 3-strong Purchasing/Supply Chain team and work under and experienced Purchasing Manager.
This person will look after the direct material spend on both a tactical and strategic level. The business is experiencing significant growth and there are going to be opportunities to develop your role and suppliers.
You will need to support all purchasing/procurement activities to ensure that purchasing services to the site are cost effective and at the required level to satisfy the needs of the plant.
Main Responsibilities
- To review MRP system information on a daily basis and take appropriate actions on agreed stock levels.
- To identify mutually beneficial opportunities for new supplier agreements and implement these seeking to agree improvements to pricing and call-off processes.
- To place and expedite purchase orders where necessary.
- To take ownership stock control of all raw materials.
- To actively benchmark with market suppliers to ensure the business is always getting the best market value on materials.
- Liaise regularly with Commercial and Planning to ensure purchased parts remains aligned to production capacity.
- To ensure that any and all issues requiring escalation are indeed escalated in a timely manner to minimise the knock on effects on production.
- To ensure, through close liaison with Planner, that issues such as Returns are processed effectively and in a timely manner.
Person Specification/Key Skills/Education required
Must have:
o Experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment where production, material planning and purchasing is controlled through an electronic ERP system
Personality Profile:
o Driven and proactive, will to muck in with other duties where needed.
o Intermediate Excel skills - e.g Pivot Tables / Vlookup
Desirable:
o CIPS level 4
o Experience within Special Purpose Machinery/Conveyors/Plant Equipment
o Ability to identify Value Engineering opportunities
My client are offering a salary of £26k-£30k with an excellent package which will be discussed on application. You will also had a half da6y on Fridays.
