Role Purpose
To handle general day to day operations, you will support the transport co-ordinators and transport supervisor on all aspects of road freight including FCL, LCL and European road haulage. You will work with account managers to provide best options on margin/service and external suppliers on bookings, releases, rates, operational issues and financial challenges.
Responsibilities
- Support Transport team and Manager on daily tasks
- Manage and maintain bookings on in-house system’s (TOPS/Cargowise)
- FCL Carrier Release Requests
- Chase and deal with FCL delivery releases and bookings
- Proactive chasing on all deliveries and update internal/external account managers and customers
- Generate and maintain daily, weekly or monthly KPI reports
- Handle and resolve supplier invoice queries
- Container free time and shunt/storage management
- Work with Account Manager to establish best service / cost mix
- Actively work to improve GP on transport operations
- Work closely with Procurement on shipping line haulage negotiations
- Run/attend meetings with hauliers and shipping lines
Person Specification
- Skills & Knowledge
- Understanding of road and rail transport movements, ideally Ocean/rail
- 2+ years in a similar role a must
- FCL / LCL Road movements experience a must, beneficial if understanding Europe road haulage but not essential
- Team Player
- Robust time management and organisational skills
- Confident and articulate communicator
- Good commercial acumen and ability to performance under pressure
- Proficient in using MSOffice
- Family with bespoke IT packages - Knowledge of TOPS would be advantage but not essential
