Shipping and Logistics Coordinator, leading retail brand

Successful and forward-thinking retail brand that makes market-leading products found on the shelves of retailers around the globe is seeking a Shipping & Logistics Coordinator to join their team.

Reporting to the Head of Production and Supply Chain, you will take ownership of all import and exports globally including the Far East, Europe, and USA, ensuring maximum efficiency in terms of both speed and cost. The successful candidate will be deadline driven, detail orientated, highly numeric, and have solid global import / export experience.

A typical day in this Shipping and Logistics Coordinator role will include:

• Liaising with global suppliers to arrange shipment of products in line with goods ready dates
• Liaising with the Product Managers and Demand Planners, deciding on the best shipping method for products, taking into account cost, demand and critical path deadlines
• Filling and consolidating containers ensuring they are leaving the port full and in the most cost-effective and efficient way
• Arranging all shipments - via sea, air and road
• Arranging all FOB shipments, ensuring efficiency and cost effectiveness and raising all relevant documentation
• Tracking all shipments’ transit progress daily to their final destination, ensuring all are on track, and any delays / issues are communicated to the business, updating on internal systems
• Monitoring and analysing monthly spend against budgets, communicating costs to the business for accurate product costings
• Managing the coordination and execution of China distribution collections
• GRN all stock into the relevant warehouses
• Building strong relationships with Freight Forwarders and couriers, negotiating best rates and discounts
• Reviewing and analysing shipping partners and methods globally, ensuring the most efficient costs and service levels, souring new partners as appropriate
• Liaising with internal departments including Demand Planning, Production, and Warehouse, forming strong relationships
• Managing the import / export compliance, ensuring all VAT, commodity codes, customs clearance documentation etc are prepared, ensuring customs clearance is as efficient as possible
• Analysing current procedures and proposing improvements and best practise
• Traveling as required, including domestic, Far East & USA

For this Shipping and Logistics Coordinator role you will have:

• 3+ years’ global shipping and logistics experience, with good knowledge of both export & import logistics
• Direct factory experience, dealing with suppliers in the Far East and Europe in particular
• Solid experience of planning container fills
• Excellent knowledge of Freight Forwarders
• Strong communicator and an excellent negotiator, with the ability to form strong lasting relationships both internally and externally
• Highly numeric and accurate, with a detail-orientated nature
• Intermediate Excel skills,
• Deadline driven, with the ability to work under pressure and meet KPI’s
• An excellent multi-tasker, with excellent organisational skills who thrives in a fast-paced role
• Experience using an ERP system
• The ability to foresee problems and overcome these confidently and effectively
