Excellent career opportunity for a suitably experienced Supervisor, with responsibility for the Purchasing and Goods Inwards functions of an established and successful UK electronics design, development and manufacturing business, located at their Cambridgeshire facility.

The role:

Responsible for the Purchasing and Goods Inwards functions of an established Electronics manufacturing business.

Key duties/responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and maintain 5S standards within the goods inwards, shipping, purchasing & Production Control functions,
  • Ensure effective maintenance of SAP data to track materials and work in progress,
  • Monitor department KPIs, and initiate any necessary corrective actions, to ensure targets are achieved
  • Ensure the effective delivery of components and production orders to achieve production start dates,
  • Liaise with manufacturing to resolve production shortages and provide recovery plans for critical shortages,
  • Work closely with Group Procurement and Quality teams to define and manage processes for procurement of goods and services
  • Monitoring and planning of resources according to workload,
  • Line management responsibilities including monitoring staff attendance, quality and timekeeping, approving staff holidays to minimise disruption, taking an active role in staff recruitment, disciplinaries and grievances,
  • Completing team performance reviews for the team, and assessing any training requirements, via an accurate and maintained skills matrix,
  • Ensuring that team members operate in accordance with quality procedures

The candidate:

We are seeking individuals with the following skills:

  • Previous experience working with MRP / ERP Systems to plan and manage procurement or logistics functions
  • Assessment, training and mentoring of staff,
  • Previous experience of lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Relevant training/qualifications an advantage, ideally CIPS qualified
  • Experience of working to ISO9001, ideally to the more specific AS9100 standard within an accredited manufacturing facility
  • Experience at supervisory level, gained within a purchasing or logistics department
  • Able to live and work in the Cambridgeshire area without restrictions
  • Ideally a driver with transport or living within a short commute from St Neots
