The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Bids and Tenders, you will play a critical role in supporting JLA growth through planning, managing and delivering successful bids.

This is a highly networked role, delivering bids across multiple sectors and products, and has been created through growth. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate becoming conversant with a new industry quickly and driving quality in all responses. Most importantly we need someone who is flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within compressed timeframes.

The Bid Manager is responsible for:

  • Developing a bid strategy
  • Execution of the strategy
  • Managing the bid process, including commercials
  • Writing and submitting the bid
  • Creating and facilitating post-tender presentations

Role Requirements:

  • Manages the bid qualification (bid go/no go) process for new opportunities
  • Scheduling and running bid kick-off meetings and leading strategy development sessions
  • Coordinating proposal governance and sign-off - using best practice bid procedures & processes
  • Manages virtual bid teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal and delivery
    • Proactively developing and managing a network of SMEs
    • Develop a proposal structure
    • Identifying existing and re-working existing pre-written content where relevant
    • Editing responses from a variety of stakeholders
    • Ensure documents follow standard formatting and quality standards
    • Preparing and reviewing the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all services are included in the final price to the customer
  • Coaching sales teams and SMEs in persuasive writing and proposal best practice
  • Champion document management and change control best practices
  • Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process
  • Managing the bid budget
  • Delivering and ensuring timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids
  • Understanding and resolving complex technical, strategic and business issues
  • Arranging all post-bid reviews with customers, post contract award
  • Updating content for bid library

Experience:

  • 4-5 years bid management experience
  • Proven capability in delivering winning, multi-million-pound products or complex service opportunities
  • Experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to project delivery
  • Provision of valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions and solution design
  • Comfortable working at CEO/Director level (internal and external)
  • Communicating and influencing at a senior level
  • Fully conversant with marketplace or evidence of becoming so in a new industry quickly
  • Sound commercial understanding and risk management skills
  • Ability to manage complex and multi-work stream opportunities
  • Attention to detail demonstrated
  • Solid understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures
